Thank you very nice.
At first i thought that these class makes no difference but actually it does as a matter of fact we really forced ourselves to think differently which is good for an art student to think out of the box. We have to, the more ideas we get, the more we want to do, the more we do, the more we get good at it. The class was fun so it really motivate us to go and learnt stuff that we will be needing in the future. From what i see these module helps me to think more in depth now which is good and I tend to question more now. At the end of the day its up to us wether we wanna apply what we have learnt to our daily life.
Week 10: Forced Connections again
Week 10 in class we did an exercise that allow us to make sentences from the words provided on this website called Kids Magnetic Poetry Kit its totally random but really helps if you are stuck with something or in need of fresh ideas.
We did these as a class as well, it was fun and funny. One by one each of us have to pick a word and the other will continue. You get the picture it was totally random. So yeah different people have different set of thinking. What we did in class was helpful because we have to admit that we do have fix mindset about something and these activity really helps me to think creatively!
Its so random though

Week 9: Forced Connections
Forced connections is the ability to combine two or more things into one. It helps to widen our perspective of things. The purpose of these activity is to see things differently. I think the idea of these is pretty interesting and kinda fun too.
We were given a choice of 6 items. I chose cup and we have to combine it with the personality given by our lecturer.
1) Passionate cup
I drew a cup with a women body sticking out as a handle it give a sense of passionate to me.
2) Sad cup
I drew a cup with lots of hole so that when water is being pour onto it looks lie the cup is bursting with tears.
3) Brave cup
For brave cup i drew a muscular hand, one flexing the other connected to the cup as a handle. People usually tend to think that one have to be muscular to be brave.
4) Creative cup
I drew a cup with weirdly shape
5) Greedy cup
I drew a cup connected to another cup and with lots of handle on it haha
6) Hardworking cup
I drew a really tiny cup so that it will literally make you hardworking by filling up once its empty.
Week 8: Analogical thinking again
In class on week 8 we have to find objects in school that have faces on them. Here are some examples of what we find..
So yeah our task is to find objects with faces on them hahahaha..
FacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFacesFaces
Didn't really notice that everyday objects have faces too! Not bad for an object...

Week 7: Analogical Thinking
An analogy is a comparison between two objects, or systems of objects, that highlights respects in which they are thought to be similar. Analogical reasoning is any type of thinking that relies upon an analogy. An analogical argument is an explicit representation of a form of analogical reasoning that cites accepted similarities between two systems to support the conclusion that some further similarity exists. In general (but not always), such arguments belong in the category of inductive reasoning, since their conclusions do not follow with certainty but are only supported with varying degrees of strength. http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/reasoning-analogy/
On week 7 we learnt that one can be inspired by their surroundings no matter how dumb that object may looks to you it can be meaningful toward others. It always depend on how you look at certain things.
As a group(me,raj and taufiq) we went around school searching for shapes and forms that have been inspired by another thing.

Week 6: Lateral Thinking
'Lateral thinking is solving problems through an indirect and creative approach, using reasoning that is not immediately obvious and involving ideas that may not be obtainable by using only traditional step-by-step logic. The term was coined in 1967 by Edward de bono.' taken from google. So basically it is thinking out of the box. In class we did an exercise answering tricky questions haha we did have fun though. Here you go..
Week 5: Digital MInd-Map
So yeah on week 4 I did a mind-map with my classmates physically on piece of mahjong paper with colorful makers. This week I did a digital version of a mind map with the school iPad. I find it more useful doing a mind map physically rather than digital which allows me to relate hence it's more memorable. But doing it digitally on the app called imindmap hd save more time and papers too but you can't doodle or sketch unless you buy the paid version of it. Here you go...
ouh wait i did these with taufiq and raj.

Breaking rules part 2
Talking about artists that have broken the rules again. But this time round its artists from different major from mine. One must learnt the rules before breaking them, sometimes it will turn good, sometimes it doesn't. Who knows...
From what i see breaking the rules as an artist, designer or architecture is doing something different from others, something unique, uncommon, rare that people have never seen or thought of. So here are some few examples of a weird buildings by Frank Gehry.
"I have always had a strong interest in both food and art. In October of 2013, I decided to merge these two interests by creating beautiful images using many different ingredients from around the world. I am not only creating art, I am also trying to promote the beauty and diversity of all of the various fruits and vegetables in the world in the hopes to encourage people to try new things. My goal is to share my work with as many people as possible and bring a little culture, a little fun, and a little joy into everyday life. What started out as a hobby, has evolved into something more. I am doing commissioned pieces, teaching others how to create food art, and incorporating my creations into dinner parties and other events. " Harley Langberg.
Who knows food can be a medium in art.
Korean artist Soo Min Kim breaking the rules by drawing starbucks cups, turning the mermaid into different characters...

Week 4: Mind mapping
Mind mapping is where all the great ideas being discovered. Random thoughts illustrated on a piece of paper during a brainstorming discussions. It is impossible for a normal human being to process everything into their mind which is why we pour it out on a blank piece of paper. A mind map is a visual organisation of informations often created with a purpose or a concept drawn in the center. Main ideas will be connected directly with the concept then branches out with other ideas.
Colours, related sketches and thinking outside the box will get you better results in finding what you are searching for. The process can be hard when its being done alone. Lucky for me i have my classmates to join the fun.
Things you might need:
1) Mahjong paper if you going big. (Depends though)
2) Colourful pens or markers
3) Imagination
4) Friends
For my group we did on 'The pursuit of unhappiness'
We started out by taking notes and then divide into 6 branches from the main topic such as how? what? where? when? why? who?
we(Rafeala and Jennifer) really had fun doing it...

Week 3: Breaking the rules
Rules rules rules... many artists have broken the rules. It depends, rules are meant to be broken or not. To me rules are made to put human life in a disciplined format. Without rules we humans would not be staying in a civilized society, there would be chaos and confusion everywhere. Rules makes us disciplined. But in certain cases some rules do get broken.
Definitely breaking the rules there...
Another example would be Sebastian campo creating simple and refined erotica in 'twenty one sextury' a series of work portraying sexual encounters of all kinds of people in society.
Instead of portraying a perfect drawing of a girl in a erotic manner he used geometric shapes.
The third example is to prevent others from breaking a rule that shouldn't be broken. Three engineering students from chile designed an elegant bicycle that is ‘Unstealable’
In conclusion not only by breaking rules we can achieve a great piece of work.
In certain cases we need to break certain rules just to get a taste of freedom or to break the monotony of life, for example rules like one has to come back home before evening, sometimes it is necessary to break the rule just to experience the night life.
Here are some examples of an artist breaking the rules.

The trio designed a bicycle that lets you “wrap” it around a pole or a tree. To use, simply slide down a tube on the bicycle frame to open it up before looping the saddle across to lock it in place.

The whole locking procedure takes about 20 seconds, which is comparable to the time taken when a conventional lock is used.

Basically the frame is the lock.
In conclusion not only by breaking rules we can achieve a great piece of work.

Week 2: Brainstorming
Brainstorming combines a relaxed, informal approach to problem solving with lateral thinking. It encourages people to come up with thoughts and ideas that can, at first, seem a bit crazy. Some of these ideas can turn out to be original, creative solutions to a problem, while others can spark even more ideas. This helps to get people to think differently than usuals.
Therefore, during a group brainstorming sessions, people should avoid criticizing or rewarding ideas. Judgment and analysis can limit the idea and creativity.
Here is an example of how an idea is being execute..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOXQo7nURs0
This ad is to promote the 2015 Ikea catalogue, BBH singapore has created a campaign that features a parody of an Apple product release video.
Introducing the catalog in a way that looks very similar to how Apple would launch its smart devices, this funny short film calls the catalog a 'bookbook' that is simple to use
According to the 'Chief Design Guru' in the video, it is a cut above to any digital book with its “eternal battery life”, “tactile touch technology”, pre-installed home furnishing ideas, zero page-loading lag time and useful bookmarking function.
Is 'Book book' better than a smart device?
So yeah me, Raj, Wahyu in a group did a brainstorming on 100 ways to cross a road. It is much easier working as a group giving ideas one after another. When one member gets stuck with an idea another member's creativity and experience can take the idea to the next step. Group brainstorming can develop ideas in greater depth rather than individual.

Week 1: Journey home
School. Journey home.
Usually i would cut through from bugis plus shopping mall but today i went through bugis street instead, where locals and foreigns shop.
Cheapcheapgoodgood. Fresh fruit & juice.
Cool toys. Doing a demo trying to sell his stuff.
Another amazing toy store. A tiny imaginary being in human form toy floating and spinning in the air.
Tap that.
Squeezeee.
Bad idea taking the train at 6 in the afternoon. Packed with zombies from work.
Tampines tam pines. Busking is so common here in tampines. Human traffic flow in the central is insane. From the interchange i would take the bus no. 293 or 28 to get home.
